Rain forecast in Sindh, holidays for officers and employees canceled
KARACHI: The Sindh government has canceled the leave of officers and employees of the agriculture department in view of rains in Sindh and imposed duties on them.
In view of the forecast of rains in Sindh by the NDMA, the Sindh government has canceled the leave of the officers and employees of the agriculture department and has imposed duties on 98 teams.
Sindh Agriculture Minister Ismail Rahu said that rains could damage crops in the desert areas. The Sindh government is conducting a spray campaign on the affected crops. In 24 hours, spraying was done in 12 affected districts of Sindh.
Ismail Rahu said that more than 6.35 million hectares have been surveyed in Sindh, aerial spraying has not been started by the federation yet, locusts can lay 1000 eggs per meter on soft soil after rains, if the federation does not fulfill its responsibility, the country’s agriculture will be destroyed.
The meteorological department has forecast rain in most parts of the country, including Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Khushab, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Gujarat, Sialkot, Narowal, and Sheikhupura. It will also rain in Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, DG Khan, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Khanewal, Sahiwal and Okara.
