Former PM announces defamation case suit against Cynthia Richie
LAHORE: Former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, while announcing to file a defamation suit against US citizen Cynthia Richie said that the strong reaction and summons to the FIA made baseless allegations against Cynthia, who did not even meet Cynthia as Prime Minister.
According to details, former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani announced to file a defamation suit against Cynthia Richie and said that Cynthia Richie had tarnished her reputation by making baseless allegations and defamation suit would be filed in Pakistan and the United States.
The former prime minister said that Cynthia Richie’s baseless allegations against Bakhtawar Bhutto was ignored and sentiments were hurt against Benazir Bhutto.
Yousuf Raza Gilani said that Cynthia made baseless allegations against the strong reaction and summons in FIA, did not even meet Cynthia as Prime Minister, if Cynthia was present in the meetings with the delegations, I do not know.
He said that the first and last meeting with Cynthia took place at the diplomat’s house in 2019. Jalil Abbas Jilani and other party leaders were also present in the meeting.

Earlier in the day, Cynthia Richie, a US citizen living in Pakistan, had leveled serious allegations against former Interior Minister Rehman Malik, former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and PPP leader Makhdoom Shahabuddin, saying that Rehman had abused her in 2011 when she was the Interior Minister. Cynthia Richie had accused former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani of trespassing in the Presidency, while former Health Minister Makhdoom Shahbabuddin was also accused of abuse.
Later, in response to the allegations of the American woman, Yousuf Raza Gilani had said that Cynthia Richie had also leveled allegations against world leader Benazir Bhutto, to which the PPP had given a strong response.
