KARACHI: Intelligence agencies and customs officials seized 100,000 tonnes of oil smuggled from Iran. A private oil company ship carrying smuggled oil from Iran reached Karachi.
According to details, intelligence agencies, and customs officials in a major operation seized 100,000 tonnes of oil smuggled from Iran. A private oil company’s ship had reached Karachi carrying smuggled oil from Iran.
Sources said that the ship was on board the SPM of a private oil company. The agencies took action after receiving intelligence information.
According to sources, trade-in oil from Iran is banned. The ship was brought to Pakistan by altering the documents. Smuggled oil from Iran is available at less than half price.
Sources said that a senior official of the Ministry of Petroleum was involved with the private oil company. Intelligence agencies have also carried out several raids on the office of the private oil company.
