According to a statement issued by NEPRA, the inquiry committee formed on the complaints against Electric has submitted an investigation report to the authority and after reviewing the report, NEPRA has decided to take further action.
In this regard, NEPRA has initially issued a show cause notice to K Electric seeking a response.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) held a public hearing in Shar-e-Quaid, taking stern notice of overloading and other public complaints by Electric, the company responsible for providing electricity.
After the hearing, NEPRA formed a fact-finding committee which visited K Electric’s head office and reviewed its production capacity, as well as listened to public complaints.
A letter was sent to the Chairman NEPRA by the Governor House in view of the growing complaints of overbilling in Karachi.
According to the letter, several complaints have been received from citizens regarding electricity. The electricity bill has become like a nightmare for the common man.
The letter said that instead of providing relief to the people, K Electric demanded payment from the people. Apart from domestic consumers, industrial and commercial consumers have also lodged complaints regarding overbilling.
