ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to eliminate vacancies in federal institutions for more than a year, now there will be no recruitment on scale 1 to 16 vacancies.
According to the details, the Finance Division has prepared a memorandum regarding non-recruitment on vacancies, in which it has been said that there will be no recruitment on vacancies from scale 1 to 16, final approval will be sought from the federal cabinet.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Reorganization. The decision will apply to all ministries, divisions and executive offices. While instructions have been issued to the Establishment Division for necessary action.
According to the Finance Division, the number of federal government employees has been steadily increasing for the past decade, as a result of which the annual salaries in Kabul have tripled and it is becoming difficult to meet the expenses of pension payment.
“95 per cent of the federal government employees are in grades 1 to 16, 85 percent of the salary bill is spent on these employees. The prime minister wants to reduce unnecessary expenses,” he said.
The Finance Division says that the World Bank has also emphasized on right-sizing in government institutions.
