It may be recalled that the Secretary Colleges had issued a notification announcing the admission policy, stating that an online system has been developed for the students through which they can submit the forms. The notification said that students should submit their form on the basis of matriculation results.
The admission form will be uploaded on the website of the department colleges. According to the notification, students from within Sindh besides Karachi can submit their forms in the offices of the concerned director college. However, the online facility for admission form submission is only available for students who have cleared matric exams under the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK), specified Channar.
Students of the Cambridge System, Technical Board, Aga Khan Board, Federal Board and other boards in the country or those who cleared matric equivalent courses at foreign institutions, can get the forms from the office of the Colleges DG, Karachi, or the Sindh College Education website. The completed forms have to be submitted to the Colleges DG’s office, located at Sharae Liaquat near Urdu Bazar, along with photocopies of the mark sheet.
The forms may be submitted in person, through post or via email, said Channar. According to him, 87,641 students were granted first year admission at government colleges in Karachi last year. This year, around 116,340 seats are open – 54,810 for boys and 61,530 for girls. Channar advised students to read the information on the website with regards to the application process and information pertaining to colleges before filling out the forms.
