Gilgit-Baltistan elections Polling ends, counting continues

Skardu: Polling time for the general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan elections has ended, after which the counting of votes is underway. News, while maintaining its tradition, has been the first to give unconfirmed and unofficial results. Polling in Gilgit-Baltistan elections started at 8 am today and continued till 5 pm without any interruption.

News has received unofficial and unconfirmed results from GBLA 16 Diamerto polling station PWD, where PML-N’s Mohammad Anwar is leading with 101 votes, PTI’s Atiqullah is second and PML-Q’s Abdul Aziz is 13th. They are number three.

News has also received the unofficial result of Sogha polling station of GBLA 22 Ghanche One, where PPP’s Mohammad Jaffer is leading with 41 votes while PTI’s Ibrahim Sanai is second with 15 votes and independent candidate Mushtaq Hussain is third with 15 votes.

has also received unconfirmed results from a polling station of GBLA-11 Kharman, in which independent candidate Iqbal Hussain is at the first position with 20 votes while Amjad Zaidi of PTI is at the second position with 10 votes.

News once again topped the list and appeared on TV casting its first vote in Gilgit-Baltistan elections. News holds the record for the best election coverage since 2001.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, the number of male voters is 405363 while the number of female voters is 339998. In Gilgit-Baltistan elections n constituency, the election has been postponed due to the death of a candidate.

Strict security arrangements have been made during the elections, 11,700 security personnel have been deployed, 1,000 additional security personnel will be ready to deal with the emergency situation, it should be noted that 415 polling stations are highly sensitive while 339 was declared sensitive.

 

According to  News, even minus 6 degrees Celsius in Skardu Constituency 2 Chandah could not dampen the mood of the people. Hundreds of people are waiting for their turn outside the polling stations.

In Ghizer, a citizen carried a frail grandmother on her back to the polling station in Sher Qala to give her the right to vote, which shows the enthusiasm of the locals to exercise their right to vote.
