Boom Boom Afridi has been named captain of the Sri Lankan Premier League franchise Gal Gladiators.

On the official Twitter account, the franchise announced Shahid Khan Afridi as the captain of the team and Raja Paskia as the vice-captain.

For the Lanka Premier League (LPL), the Gal Gladiators have selected eight prominent Pakistani players. Eight Pakistani players, including Shahid Khan Afridi, former captain Shoaib Malik, Sarfraz Ahmed and Mohammad Amir, have been selected in the online Lanka Premier League draft.

The draft was originally scheduled for October 1, but was delayed by a recent outbreak of the corona virus in Sri Lanka. Five franchises have also selected Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Faf du Plessis and David Miller for the inaugural edition of the tournament, which starts on November 26.

Team names and logos have also been announced along with the draft players, including the Jaffna Stallions, Gal Gladiators, Dambulla Hawks, Colombo Kings and Candy Tuskers.

Cheek Gladiators is owned by the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Quetta Gladiators, and will host mostly Pakistani players, including Shahid Afridi, Aamir, Sarfraz and young talent Azam Khan. Afridi, who left international cricket in 2016, signed as a star player for the LPL team Gal Gladiators last month.

Cheek will be coached by former Pakistan captain Moin Khan and legendary swing bowler Wasim Akram will lead the team Lanka Premier League .
