KARACHI: A lawmaker from the Sindh Meeting has determined to step down forward of the NA-249 by-polls in order that he might win and “present” the seat to Prime Minister Imran Khan.
“I’ve to win this seat it doesn’t matter what so I can present it to Prime Minister Imran Khan,” PTI lawmaker Malik Shehzad Awan mentioned Friday. “That is why I’ve submitted my resignation.”
Awan submitted his resignation to Chief of the Opposition in Sindh Meeting, Haleem Adil Sheikh, after the PTI — his personal get together — snubbed him in giving a ticket for the NA-249 constituency.
Amjad Khan Afridi — the ruling get together’s candidate for NA-249, which had fallen vacant after the previously-elected Faisal Vawda stepped down following his Senate victory — was “unpopular within the constituency”, he mentioned explaining his determination.
Vawda, who can also be related to the PTI, had gained from Karachi’s NA-249 constituency through the 2018 common election however stepped down after profitable a seat through the Senate elections earlier this month.
In its polling schedule for NA-249 issued earlier, the Election Fee of Pakistan (ECP) introduced that voting would happen within the constituency on April 29, 2021.
