KARACHI: The Pakistani media our bodies have as soon as once more unanimously rejected the proposed Pakistan Media Growth Authority (PMDA) calling it a “draconian try” to muzzle the press.
The joint committee contains All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS), Pakistan Broadcasters Affiliation (PBA), Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE), Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and Affiliation of Digital Media Editors and Information Administrators (AEMEND).
In an announcement issued on Monday, it slammed the data ministry for attempting to create a notion that journalist our bodies will not be strongly against the PMDA.
“The lately circulated minutes of the assembly between the Ministry of Data & Broadcasting and these organizations are deceptive and have been purposefully distorted to offer the impression that there was no severe objection to the PMDA,” the assertion added.
“All representatives have been unanimous in rejecting the PMDA draft.”
The ministry, it stated, is constantly attempting to offer the impression that sections of the media fraternity are supporting the ministry on this draconian try to muzzle the press. “This needs to be stopped instantly.”
The joint committee can also be planning to name all human rights teams, bar associations, members of parliament and different sections of civil society to affix fingers in stopping this outrageous transfer by the current authorities to place additional curbs on media.
